Homemade hamburgers with oven roasted potato wedges

Ingredients

  • 400g beef mince
  • 1 brown onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Tabasco sauce (optional)
  • ¼ cup parsley leaves, chopped
  • 1 egg, lightly whisked
  • sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 bread rolls, halved
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 2 tomatoes, thickly sliced
  • 4 fancy lettuce leaves
  • 500g ready to roast frozen potato wedges
  • Tomato chutney or sauce

Method

  1. Place the beef mince, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, parsley and egg in large bowl
  2. Season with salt and pepper and mix with your hands until evenly combined
  3. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into a patty to fit the size of the bread rolls
  4. At this point the patties can be frozen, if desired
  5. Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over medium-low heat and cook the patties for about 4 minutes on each side or until browned and cooked through
  6. Place the bread rolls, cut-side up, under a hot grill and toast for 1 minute or until golden
  7. Place the patties onto the bottom halves of the toasted rolls with the cheese slices
  8. and place under the grill for 1 minute or until the cheese is just melted
  9. Top with the toasted bread roll tops with some tomato chutney or sauce, add sliced tomato and lettuce and serve with oven roasted wedges and extra tomato chutney or sauce
